At Christmas time Amrita Australia Limited in Melbourne, Sunshine Coast, Adelaide, Perth and Byron Bay provide special Christmas hampers and gifts for families and individuals in need in partnership with community organisations in each state.
In Melbourne 105 new lego and other toys was donated to Community Support Frankston who support many vulnerable families in the Frankston municipality, which includes Carrum Downs the location of Amma’s Melbourne Ashram. Melbourne also provided grocery vouchers to the Aboriginal organisation Willum Warrain Aboriginal Association, for distribution to individuals and families in need.
In Byron Bay the group delivered 42 Christmas hampers to Mullumbimby District Neighbourhood Centre. The carefully curated hampers were filled with essential food, treats and gifts for families in need.
The Adelaide group made 10 special gift packs for Indigenous renal patients who travel from the APY lands to Adelaide for medical treatment. The packs included toiletries, sanitary items and Christmas treats. In addition, Adelaide also donated food items to the organisation Lutheran Care.
The Perth group provided 57 hampers for clients of Naala Djookan Healing Centre – an organisation that supports women, children and families at risk of or experiencing family and domestic violence. The hampers included a teddy bear, food, grocery gift vouchers and sanitary items.
The Sunshine Coast group provided the Nambour Community Centre with grocery gift cards to distribute to families and individuals experiencing food insecurity, the numbers of whom are unfortunately increasing.
